Grand theft auto is one of the most committed crimes in the world. Many lawbreakers make a life from it. It's a way of life for them. They support their families with the money. Many of the younger thieves do it for recreational use of drugs and alcohol. For most hard criminals it's the beginning point for their criminal career. They start by stealing vehicles in their neighborhood. These are usually second hand cars like Honda Civics', cheap Toyota models and Hyundai's are a few to mention that they sell at a cheap price to bigger syndicates. The consortium then break the car down and sell the spare parts. They change the color and number plate of the car and then sell it at a cheaper price. Then with time young criminals move on to bigger deals and more expensive cars like BMW's, Mercedes Benz, Audi and Ferrari's.
To steal a car is quite easy. Many convicts master the technique fairly quickly. An amateur would break the window and hot wire the car. A professional would use technology to their advantage. These felons use forged finger prints to mislead the police. They have radio equipment and the police channels by which they listen to the police's whereabouts. They do extensive preparation before hand. They firstly scout the locations of the cars looking for anything that might cause problems or what advantage the surrounding has. Secondly they have diverse number of tactics by which they bamboozle the police. For example shadow games. This is when the convicts steal a large number of cars over a certain period of time. The surprise attack is when they pilfer a large number of cars in one night. These two tactics are mostly used then there is a big number of cars in a truncated time. Thirdly they have various code names for different cars. On the street an Audi is known as Tracy, the BMW is known as Natalie, Ferrari is known as Marina. So if they stole a blue Ferrari, they'll say Marina Blue took me for a ride. These types of street slang moreover make it harder for the police to apprehend offenders. In addition they have crooked connections, people who lead double lives. They work at car dealerships by day and live the life of a criminal at night. They do it because it's extra cash on the side for them. These connections provide them with information about the car. For example, the home address of the owners. What alarm system the car has. They also give information about the warehouses where cars are kept and how to get in. Lots of professionals work together as teams. Each member has a special area where their expertise is needed, like computer hackers. These people can locate exotic cars faster. Hackers can change registration numbers of cars. They hack into the traffic network to ensure the escape routes work. They replicate fake driver's licenses to the drivers. Drivers are the ones that physically steal the cars. They are talented at it and can easily deceive the police if they are being chased. The mechanics of the team strip the cars bare. They remove the car parts and make changes to the body of the car, so that it's not recognized. With this it's much harder for the law to catch them and they make more profits working as a team. The risk of being caught is lower and if a member is caught their loyalty is unquestionable. Each member helps each other.
Taking all these facts into account, stealing cars is a money-making business. It's a lucrative industry whether it is a new car or second-handed car.
